Sigur Ros New Album 2007
Sigur Rós records new album
Icelandic indie-rock band Sigur Rós has been busy recording its new album in Sundlaugin (“The Swimming Pool”), their recording studio near Reykjavík, for the past two months.
According to Sigur Rós bass player Georg Holm, the band expects the new album will be finished this year. Fréttabladid reports.
“We have recorded a few songs, but we don’t know what the album will be like yet,” Holm told Fréttabladid. “As it is, we are just experimenting.”
“Some of the songs we are recording are old; material that we never finished and has never been published. We thought it was time to finish it now,” Holm said.
Sigur Rós is also working on a video of one of their concerts, which was filmed in Iceland last year.
On February 26 the band will play at a charity concert for Tibet in Carnegie Hall in New York. “We want to support this cause, but haven’t been able to participate in the charity concert before now,” Holm said.
Sigur Rós will perform one song at the concert, most likely “Heysátan” from its latest album Takk. “It is one of few songs that we can play without bringing three tons of musical instruments,” Holm told Fréttabladid.
On the day before the concert Sigur Rós will play during the dance performance “Split Sides” by Merce Cunningham in Miami.
