Emilíana Torrini @ Reykjavík Cinema 13. December 2008

Icelandic singer-songwriter Emilíana Torrini will perform in her first concert in Iceland in more than two years in the University of Iceland Cinemain Reykjavík on December 13. Torrini is currently on a world tour to promote her latest album.
“She is very much looking forward to performing in Iceland because she hasn’t performed here in a long time,” drummer Sigtryggur Baldursson, who has been touring with Torrini and just returned to Iceland from Australia, told Morgunbladid.
“Australia was a lot of fun and everything went well. All concerts were sold out except in Melbourne where we played in a rather large venue, but it was almost full,” Baldursson adds. He hasn’t played in Australia since 1990 with the Sugarcubes.

Torrini’s latest album Me and Armini was released in September and has proven popular around the world. In Iceland it has sold in 5,000 copies, which makes it a gold record.
Some of Torrini’s songs have been played in hit television series Grey’s Anatomy, including “Jungle Drum” from her latest album. Torrini will continue her tour next year when she will travel to Britain and America.
