Iceland Airwaves invade foreign music festivals
The Ultra Mega Technoband Stefán (UMTS) will play in the two largest music festivals in Scotland next weekend under the flag of Iceland Airwaves.
UMTS will perform at the goNorth Festival in Inverness on Friday, and according to a press release from the Iceland Airwaves management, the band will be the biggest electro music act at the festival.
On Saturday UMTS is scheduled to perform at the festival Rock Ness alongside artists like Daft Punk, The Chemical Brothers and Kelis.
UMTS plays on behalf on Iceland Airwaves to promote Airwaves and Icelandic music to festival goers as well as to the media and people involved in the music business who attend goNorth and Rock Ness.
UMTS played at the Iceland Airwaves festival in Reykjavík last fall and were asked to play an encore during the last evening, at the so-called harvest festival, with the Canadian musician Patrick Watson. Traditionally, the most popular musicians at the festival are asked to perform again on the final evening.
In February UMTS represented Iceland Airwaves at the Norwegian music festival By:larm, along with Lay Low and Reykjavík!.
