DANÍEL ÁGÚST: I wanted to explore further different kind of approaches, how to make music. By quitting the band I just got the freedom to do that. These guys are still my friends and sometimes I collaborate with them. To me, when a voice inside just cries that I have to do something else, go on an excursion and investigate how you can make music differently and how you can learn from it, I just have to go onto that journey.
DANÍEL ÁGÚST: I had been in two bands, but never expressed my deepest feelings and emotions or the way I look at life or love and hate or whatever is close to me. For this album I just thought it was time to do something like that, to paint a picture that was very close to how I felt and not superficial or something that didn't concern me directly.

DANÍEL ÁGÚST: My background is purely pop and rock. What I did: I had this musical software program that enables me to write voices for different instruments with a sampler. That's basically how I did it. I just printed it out for the string players
to play. I got some assistance to have the notation right, so the players could read it.

DANÍEL ÁGÚST: To keep it as timeless as possible by means of using the string instruments, because they are by themselves very timeless. But they refer to the old way of expressing music. That was the most fascinating thing to me: to relate to this
old heritage of how to make music and bring it to the present.

The gray en If you leave me now van Daníel Ágúst.

DANÍEL ÁGÚST: We had been talking about moving and broadening our horizons a little bit, because we had been living here for almost too long. We wanted to try and live somewhere else. So we moved over to her house. She knew this architect that was renovating this castle in the middle of Brussels and he invited us to. And there we worked for 2,5 years and it was very inspiring: a beautiful place with a lake around and a small land with trees and stuff.

DANÍEL ÁGÚST: He's a master with sound and soundscape and making things work in context and working together aurally. I couldn't have done this without him, because he was such a great contribution to the whole thing. He just put another
dimension into it. He enhanced it by his generosity and musical skill.
hele verhaal.

DANÍEL ÁGÚST: My voice is the one telling the story or the feeling in words, but it's totally intertwined with the strings and the strings are like a vehicle for the message, for the thought. I wanted to make a personal album, which was describing my
different states of mind and the best instruments to do that are these string instruments. Because they relate straight to the core, to the heart, to the brain and to the stomach. I was just fascinated by the sound of that, the soundscape.
